Lisa’s Story

I’ve never before felt so welcomed and accepted in a setting outside my home. The facility and grounds are very beautiful and tranquil, which in turn produces a very calming environment I believe has greatly aided my comfort in attending.   The staff are very warming and compassionate, making me feel un-judged and valued.  It’s ran by people with lived and professional experience of mental health, the courses offer a relatable yet fresh outlook on managing mental health issues. These courses are grounded in information, yet, provide stimulating and thought provoking opportunities to better understand myself.

Having completed Feel the Fear course which was facilitated by Lisa Hart and Mandy, I can’t speak highly enough about them and the course.  I’m now attending Managing Depression and throughout my attendance at the college I have also participated in the fantastic gym facility.  Kevin offered me a personal training plan with consideration to my ability and is very inclusive and professional to each person he sees.  Having been continuously pushed by Kevin, I have developed a new-found sense of confidence and determination.  He is a merit to the college and has consistently lifted my mood.

I’d like to thank everyone at Barnsley Recovery College, they’ve helped me throughout my journey and I look forward to my progression onto more courses. I’d thoroughly recommend the College to anyone trying to cope with mental health issues.
