WEA are back doing their creative thing at the College for old and new learners!
Sewing skills are historically a craft that Women used to Make do and Mend; this course is a opportunity to learn the skills that can turn your rags into riches by recycle discarded materials to create new and beautiful items. We will employ Boro and Sachiko techniques to embellish and repair fabrics, patchwork and embroidery to cover blemishes.
In this day and age we need to reset the throw-away culture to extend the life or re-imagine the things we once loved. It make financial, ecological and practical sense along with creating customised crafts that pass the time away.
If you are anything like me you will all have favourite fabric or sentimental items such as Children’s clothing and so on, which can be used to create new and beautiful keepsakes or gifts with true meaning. Embellished Patchwork can become a unique blankets, bags, cushion covers and wall hangings.
Come to this relaxing course to enjoy working on your own project under the guidance of an experience crafting tutor. All are welcome and no experience is necessary in sewing skills.
Traditional Sewing and History of Textiles are on the same day, therefore learners are welcome to stay for the duration of the day or just enrol for one course!
